The New York Times, recently reported a study by Pediatrics in which they analyzed data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey. They found that the percentage of teenagers testing positive for diabetes and prediabetes had nearly tripled to 23 percent in 2007-8 from 9 percent in 1999-2000. The article explains, that many people with prediabetes go on to develop Type 2 diabetes, but weight loss, exercise and diet can prevent that from happening.
